Wines of the Hapsburg Dynasty

The Habsburgs, ruling family of the Holy Roman Empire for over 400 years, are famous for their wine, and their vineyards were located in some of the most prestigious wine regions in Europe, such as the Wachau Valley in Austria and Tokaj in Hungary.

Start in Hungary, which has a long and rich wine making tradition. There are many excellent wineries in the country which you can visit for tastings, wine tours, and to learn about the different types of Hungarian wine.
Hungary’s best known wine regions include:

Tokaj: This region is known for its sweet Tokaji Aszú wines. The infamous Tokaji Aszú wines are known and the Wine of Kings, and the King of Wine.

Somló: This region is known for its volcanic wines, which are made from grapes that are grown on volcanic soil.

Eger: This region is known for its full-bodied red wines, such as Egri Bikavér (Bull's Blood).

Villány: This region is known for its bold red wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Last Minute Getaway
